A small selection of this photo series was exhibited (05 July - 27 Sept 2024) at Anno Haarlem (Visitor Centre in the Town Hall at Grote Markt 2 in Haarlem) and sponsored by Haarlem Marketing. Medya is currently seeking funding for a larger photography exhibition and a book.

Artisans have always been at the heart of the world’s supply of trinkets, food, and art. The living tradition of craftsmanship offers a glimpse into the past, showing how artifacts we take for granted today were originally made by hand. Today, however, more and more artisans are retiring as countries develop more efficient and cheaper ways of producing items. Artisans from all over the world face the challenge of preserving traditional practices and crafts. They are bridging the gap between maintaining valuable traditions and responding to modern environmental challenges. By using sustainable materials, employing low-waste techniques, and supporting local economies, artisans are often leading the way in eco-conscious production.
This ongoing photography project by Medya gives an insight into the remaining artisans in Haarlem (NL). "The historic city of Haarlem has given me an insight into the lives of some of the remaining artisans. Craftsmanship is often passed down from generation to generation, which I find fascinating. The people I photographed take the time to bring some of this history to life".
